The creative process that takes place in us as individuals does not come from our own minds alone, as we tend to think. Rather, to the extent our minds are open, free, they receive new insights, openings, “intuitive” flashes, revelations, directly transmitted from the Source of Creation itself. This in fact is not so surprising, since the Source of Creation is our own source too, the unified field of Consciousness, subtle and unseen, that informs all our movements, both of mind and body, our perceptions and our actions, individually (through our personal psyche) and collectively (as a culture) in our evolutionary unfolding.

In other words, this unfolding from our Essence, true nature or the Source of Creation, takes place both through our own personal journey in life, as well as the greater evolution of the human cultural collective. In the individual creative process, especially, this connection with our Source is amplified. We come into synch with the unified field and its evolutionary impulse. We become a channel for the hidden implicate order of universal Consciousness to express itself through us in the world, in creative manifestation -- which, in turn, through its ripple effects, can take the collective culture to a higher order.

It is our connection with the Origin, the Source of Creation itself, that allows us to be “original”, “creative”– to come up with insights that break through the limits of what is already known. This is the creative process: step by step (or rather like a spiral), each time we touch down in our Origin, we are infused with an insight or revelation that blasts us past the last limit of the known, and delivers us a new slice of the hitherto “unknown”, which until now was hidden.

This “infusion” can have a truly electric feeling, like being plugged into a master fuse, emitting, burst by burst, its flashes straight from the source. We become the channel that transmits the implicate order, the evolutionary impulse enfolded in the core of the Cosmos, pulse by pulse, into new manifestation, that, through a critical mass of momentum leading to a quantum leap, can transform not only ourselves but our society and systems, bringing them into greater congruence with the unity at their core.

But there is still more. For both the creative process, and our collective evolutionary journey, not only unfold directly from the Source of Creation, but also fold back into it. The phenomenal world, and all its manifestation, including us, our bodies, minds and cultures, are continuously recycled back into the Source, and its vast, unconditioned, boundless and ever-open potential. This is both, paradoxically, the source of our infinite creativity and our eternal, unchanging, indestructible true nature.

This means that, if we are willing to let this current of creation carry us fully, it takes us beyond even revelatory insight, evolutionary transmutation. For everything we know, in fact, with our egoic-mind, that acts as a blindfold, is limited. Ultimately, in the creative process, as in our collective evolution (the creative process, once could say, of the Universe itself), the Unknown reveals itself fully, tearing away, searing through, all our blinders, everything we thought we knew, and delivering us to pure openness, the radiant light behind and beyond all Creation -- the Origin itself, without circumference or end.

Letting go of the ego, all that we ever thought we knew, we die back into the Origin itself, the Source of all Creation, which is unborn, undying. This ego, this body, this blinkered mind, was only a window, letting through shaft by shaft of light; when all the shutters are flung wide open, shattered, we become the light itself -- we ourselves are flung open into that radiant vastness, without beginning and end, beyond even life and death.

So long as we ourselves exist in phenomenal form, plugging into our true nature can transform us, and through us, our world. And today this is vital. But it also goes beyond this. Beyond the phenomenal world we are delivered fully into our true eternal Wholeness – where both we and the world as we know it dissolve, and we emerge undivided, where the boundaries between “I” and “the world” merge into radiant Oneness, an ineffable, numinous unity, infinite and boundless. This can happen either through the force of our own creative process, or the collective evolutionary one – both are taking us home, a journey from our true nature back to our true nature – a course of revelation that we have always been That: the space in which this whole play of life, in all its beauty and sorrow, its terror and its majesty, its magnificent multiplicity and inexhaustible Wholeness, unfolds and is enfolded.

One could say our purpose in life is two-fold – one, the unfolding of our true nature through our evolutionary, creative process, and two, enfolding back into its infinite openness. In fact, when we are plugged in to the Source of Creation, we are doing both at once, for the two themselves are One, two sides of the same singularity. In its manifest or unmanifest aspect, all is the same Essence, and we are inseparably one with it, on this side of life or beyond.

In fact, the Whole of life is this creative process, this journey from Essence, through its unfolding, back into its own Self. And it is a continual process, one without beginning or end, undivided by space and time, or by life and death. Its inner, unchanging Essence and outer, ever-changing forms, though they may seem separate in time and space, are One and the same; each form, each fractal, a micro-cosmos of the Whole, is contained by, contains and is the Whole -- the Consciousness behind and beyond all forms, that gives rise to the Whole Cosmos.

Solitude, Loss, Aloneness: Diving In and Through the Dark Night into Our All-Oneness

This is a time when we all need to connect, come together to renew our world, but first we have to move through a limbo of loss, of disconnection, shaking up the old, so that the new can break through in a wholly new configuration. Many of us are going through this dark night of the soul now, being torn apart, within ourselves and from others, entering into chaos, in order to find who we really are, emerge with a new identity, of our true unity, Wholeness.

Our relationships with other people are generally the playing-ground of the ego, where we look to get our ego-needs met – recognition, reflection, affirmation and approval, self-image and identity. Ultimately, it is only in our solitude (however that comes about, by force, or choice, or circumstance) that we are pushed back on our true Self, our Origin, the Source of all Creation. Once we have gone through this rite of passage, however, the way we relate to that Creation, inside us and all around us, is very different – from fullness to fullness, rather than from an emptiness within us that is always seeking fulfillment from the “outside”, from “others.” We know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are the Whole that contains all that is -- the infinite light itself that projects from itself the appearance of “self” and “others”, and in time re-absorbs them, welcomes them back to their eternal home.

At some point, we have to take this plunge, this deep dive in, that feels at first like drowning, but ends in resurrection. Today we are facing this point, a plunge into a global dark night of the soul that is pushing us into the true light of our Being -- a point of no return, but to turn to, and into, the Infinite. We can do this kicking and screaming, but much better to surrender, softly, into the grace that is carrying us, which, despite all appearances, is supremely tender at heart. That Divine heart at the centre of the universe is waiting to receive us, waiting for us to surrender our armor, and into her open arms -- to let go of all we’ve held onto, and melt back into Her infinite light, Her infinite Love, undivided.

While the odds for victory, collectively, look bleak today – each of us is a micro-cosmos, and within that micro-cosmos, the potential for victory is in our own hands. Let us start there, and leave the results of the ripple-effects, through the collective Cosmos, in the Divine’s hands, riding the waves ignited by our own union with its infinite power.
